Major Depressive Disorder

Major depressive disorder (MDD) causes feelings of extreme sadness or hopelessness that last for at least two weeks. It is also called clinical depression.

People with MDD may become so distressed about their lives that they think about suicide. The condition is common — about 8% of people in Pakistan experience at least one major depressive episode each year.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please tell someone today — a doctor, a family member, or call the clinic. This is treatable, and you do not have to manage it alone.
